i am fairly sure you will find the file, but the newer binary versions
that i supply are not compatible with relatively old Linux versions. i
believe the relevant part is the GLIBC version, e.g. (Fedora Core 1):
0 oe at mv (~) 19 $ rpm -q -a | egrep 'glibc'
glibc-common-2.3.2-101.4
glibc-headers-2.3.2-101.4
glibc-kernheaders-2.4-8.36
glibc-2.3.2-101.4
glibc-devel-2.3.2-101.4
0 oe at mv (~) 20 $ ls -l /lib/libc.*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 13 Apr 3 2004 /lib/libc.so.6 -> libc-2.3.2.so
i moved to newer PVM binaries sometime late last year, so that it would
work on latest Debian (unstable; NTT) and RHEL distributions (UiO). it
would be possible for you to recompile those binaries locally, but then
i would have to post some instructions and make my modified PVM sources
available (which i would be happy to do). however, i suspect it might
actually be easier upgrading to a current Linux distribution? looking
at our `official' list of supported platforms at
http://wiki.delph-in.net/moin/LkbInstallation
i would like to continue the assumption that GLIBC 2.3 is available. i
believe that would be RedHat 9 (i.e. late 2003) and upwards. what were
you using in the above, out of curiosity?
all the best - oe
