the new code (in the branch tok-and-morph, but due to be reintegrated as soon as possible) uses an extended version of the rule filter. Ben is going to add a filter which checks which lexical types can feed which rules. There's also the possibility of doing packing. I don't think there's any point trying to modify the old code. Ann
