david, my apologies for the (very) long response time!

i belive this is not much of an issue to us. i changed our code when i
first discovered the change in behavior. i reported this mainly to (a)
get an opinion on whether my code was legal ANSI Common-Lisp and (b) to
suggest this change from 7.0 to 8.0 be documented. many thanks for the
quick follow-up on my report!

--- if i had a choice, i think someone working on our long-standing and
actually crippling CLIM issues ([spr30363] and [spr30570]) will have a
much bigger impact on our work.

                                                       all best - oe
