[developers] how to install / set up PangoLui

Dear developers,

I am a grammarian with a main interest in Matrix-based Chinese grammar engineering. I have been working on ManGO (mandarin grammar online), but I have some problems with font display of Chinese characters via VirtualBox. Thanks to Prof. Emily Bender, I learnt PangoLui can be the answer. However, knowing almost nothing in linux and programming, I still don’t know how to work it out according to the information provided on the wiki page (http://moin.delph-in.net/LkbLui?highlight=%28PangoLUI%29). I tried to search for more details but failed.

Without proper font display, grammar engineering can be very inconvenient (refer to the attached screenshot). Can anyone kindly give me some step-by-step instruction to install / set up PangoLui? Any information or suggestions are very much appreciated too.

I am using KnoppixLKB via VirtualBox to access a server in USA.
