Would it be possible to change at this early stage to a naming scheme
that doesn't require new users to be knowledgable about the history of
the function in question, and call it something like (setf
lkb::*tree-discriminants-mode* :syntactic)? Or if we planning to
replace it soon, then :syntactic-clim or something?
