[logon] forthcoming changes in the LOGON tree

colleagues,

there is ongoing work on the LOGON tree (in collaboration with woodley),
to better support full-forest treebanking.  i am about to check in a number
of changes that are still undergoing testing, hence would suggest people
abstain from SVN updates for a couple of days.
