Yes, definitely.

We all should stay away from this kind of "fast and dirty" patches,
especially in the future, when there is a writable repository for PET.

Seems i have to add :I486 to the ecl-patches now.

Besides, on my SuSE 9.2 with gcc 4.1.0, no core dump when loading the 
ERG with packing. ecl is 0.9h, uname -a gives:
Linux lt-bee3 2.6.8-24.14-default #1 Tue Mar 29 09:27:43 UTC 2005 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
