thanks.  digging through log files, it turns out there were name server
issues that caused the message to bounce for some recipients (not all);
given the immense spam intake lately, the list moderator (me) must have
overlooked the bounce warning :-{.

i have reconfigured the MTA and believe this problem will not occur in
the future.
