[developers] A bug in Logon/LKB

the default in the LOGON environment is LUI, but a few display types are
not supported there and fall back to CLIM. the type hierarchy is one of
these, hence i suspect the error may be caused in opening a CLIM window.
i could imagine some library incompatibility, somewhere between CLIM,
Motif, X11, and possibly non-graphical libraries. not immediately sure how
best to debug this, i am afraid. if there were a way for me to ssh(1) into
a system that has this problem, i would be happy to try.
