Paul,

You didn't show in your invocation of PET that you added the "-packing" option, but you should.

Subject: [developers] PET performance (on-line)

Greetings,

In a clean build of PET (on a Docker-hosted Ubuntu 16 image built using dockerfiles I'm happy to share), PET is timing out using the ERG for the following sentence and command line:

  * It is fine if there are some white streaks left in the batter before you add the second half.
  *   cheap -cm -repp -memlimit=8000 -timeout=120 english.grm

On the other hand, the on-line demo responds in 5.4 seconds.

How is the on-line demo so fast?

Thank you for any insights,

Paul
