Hello Developers,

For fresh installs of the DELPH-IN tools there seem to be two different avenues, as outlined by independent installation instructions at http://moin.delph-in.net/LkbInstallation versus http://moin.delph-in.net/LogonInstallation. Where each installation page contains minor flaws or incomplete information, it is sometimes corrected or provided in the other.

What does not seem to be given anywhere on the wiki is a basic introductory overview of the difference between the two alternatives, and when one might be indicated or preferred over the other.

The location of those binaries which are deployed by both installs (i.e. as LKB) do not seem to overlap into the same location. There are further inconsistencies about which Linux environment variables are referenced by each. In general, after following both install instructions I was confused about which version of the LKB was being, or should be, activated by default.

Can we provide a single overarching instruction page that better explains the differences? Better yet, is there any way to make the installations compatible, such that the LOGON install is a proper superset of the LKB install environment variables and locations?

Glenn
