[itsdb] Getting [incr tsdb()] to run

Hello,

I'm planning to work with the Redwoods corpus for my PhD, but for now
I just want to see a few examples from it with RMRS annotations. I've
downloaded the package that contains the corpus as well as LKB, the
ERG and [incr tsdb()], but run into problems.

To see Redwoods data, I gather I have two options: run the "export"
script in the [incr tsdb()] data directory, or run LKB from emacs and
then run [incr tsdb()] with the command M-x itsdb RET. I'm failing at
both, for what looks like the same reason. In both cases, Allegro
produces the error message "The compiler is not available in Allegro
Runtime." LKB works fine. I'm using the version of the system that
results when you run the automated installation (the last time I did
which was just now). I've tried a manual installation instead, but I
wasn't sure which files I needed or what the .emacs file should say,
and I couldn't get it to work.

So I'd be very grateful if anyone can help with any of these questions:
1) How can I fix [incr tsdb()] so that it'll run from emacs?
2) Could my problem be caused by the fact that a file called
matrix.tgz is missing (as reported during the automated installation)?
3) Is there any other way to run [incr tsdb()] that might work?
4) Is there any other way to access (small portions of) the Redwoods corpus?

I'm using Linux with Gnome and Fedora Core 5.

Thanks very much in advance,
Tommy Herbert
