thanks, this is an interesting bug caused by the migration to SVN: the
strings that SVN generates for the $Date$ keyword are different, hence
the code parsing those strings needs to be extended.

to allow people to run things, i have disabled the version test in the
ERG (in the LOGON universe, we know we have the right LKB version), as
dan suggests.  nevertheless, i will improve the code later today ...
