from looking at instantiate-generic-lexical-entry() in the ERG
‘lkb/user-fns.lsp’, there are no additional slots in the LKB; instead,
the orthography of the generic lexical entry is instantiated
(according to the CARG value), parallel to specializing its semantics,
as it is entered into the chart.

might this technique work for ACE as well (and seem a little more
above board, to me at least :-)?
